Update 12/01: This feature was initially announced in September of this year, but the production rollout was paused to address unexpected functionality that was uncovered during testing. The feature is now ready to enable in production environments. Some minor UI changes were made to the Share With modal to allow grouping of borrowers separately from TPRs, and to group sharing co-borrowers into one checkbox. The Release Note has been updated with these details, and new screenshots that show these UI changes. This feature will be enabled in customer prod environments on January 9, 2024.

Update 10/25: The production rollout of this feature has been postponed again due to unexpected functionality that was uncovered during testing. Customers may still test this feature in their beta environments for the time being. We will communicate new dates in future iterations of Release Notes.

Date Available: Available now in beta, Prod 01/09

Which customers are impacted?: Customers using Blend to share and request signatures on documents with borrowers and third-party recipients (TPRs).

How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled for all customers on the dates listed above.

Purpose of Update and Benefit:

This feature enhancement will allow loan teams to specify which borrowers and TPRs should have access to documents that are added to the loan. Loan teams can also revoke access for specific borrowers and TPRs at any point, should circumstances change. The document sharing controls are only available in the lender application.

Current Behavior:

When sharing documents in the Docs tab, it is only possible for loan teams to share with all borrowers and TPRs added to the loan, or none of them.

New Behavior:

Loan teams will be able to select which borrowers and TPRs to share documents with in the Docs tab. When a file is uploaded, loan teams will see a dropdown under “Share With” on the Upload File pop-up. Selecting “Select borrowers and third parties” from the dropdown will show all the borrowers and TPRs that have been added to the loan, with their email addresses. Loan teams can use the checkboxes to indicate which recipients should have access to the document.

If there is a sharing co-borrower pair, both borrowers will be represented by the same checkbox since sharing co-borrowers will always have access to all documents.

The visible file name in the Docs tab will show which borrowers and TPRs were given access.

Loan teams can edit which borrowers and TPRs have access to existing documents by clicking on the three dots icon on the right, and clicking “Edit file access.”

This will open the Edit Sharing Settings modal. Loan teams can add or remove access to the doc for borrowers and TPRs by checking or unchecking the boxes by their names.

The file name will update to reflect any changes made to the sharing settings.

To revoke access from all borrowers and TPRs, loan teams can change the selection in the “Share With” dropdown to “No one,” which will make it so that only lender users with access to the loan will have access to the file.
